Battlefield History-Battlefield 2142
In the not to distant future man is on the brink of destroying it self... and so on and on. Back in 2006 when DICE finally became part of EA they made a change in the way Battlefield was going. By taking it to the future they were hoping for something big... It wasn't that the game wasn't great, it just wasn't what people wanted. Here is IGN's review of the game and EA's web site for 2142.
The soil not covered by ice can only feed a fraction of the Earth’s population, and players choose to fight for one of two military super powers in an epic battle for survival: The European Union or the newly formed Pan Asian Coalition. Introducing a futuristic art style, science fiction weaponry, and the asymmetric game mode Titan, Battlefield 2142 still has a hardcore following that doesn’t want to leave the future behind.
It just didn't feel like the Battlefield game, but I do believe you can still find those hardcore pc fans still playing this game. Maybe some day after DICE is done with Battlefield 4 and what ever Star Wars game they are making; this could be the game they revisit.
